The Beach Guide

Beach Bound!

Whether you live here or are just visiting, there is no place quite like the beach.  Palm Beach County hosts some beautiful beaches that are open to the public for swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, or just catching some rays.  From Tequesta to Boca Raton here is a list of thirteen of our oceanfront and inlet parks that are guarded for swimmers by Ocean Rescue lifeguards year-round, seven days a week, from 9:00am – 5:20pm with the following exceptions:

Peanut Island and Dubois Park have a life guard seven days of the week from Memorial Day until Palm Beach County Public Schools start in the fall.
Peanut Island is guarded from 9:15am – 4:45pm.  When school is in session, the swimming areas at both Peanut Island and Dubois Park are guarded ONLY on the weekends until Memorial Day.  For general park info, call:  (561)-966-6600.

Carlin Park, Jupiter  400 N. Ocean Boulevard, Jupiter **

This multi-purpose park is a great place to get away from the bustle of downtown Jupiter. The Carlin Park is just south of Indiantown Road. Events includes fishing tournaments, sunset concerts and the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival.  With acres of pristine sand, sport fields and courts, picnic areas with grills, and a performing arts theatre, this park has enough to keep you busy all day long. The beaches are great for those looking for a quiet swimming spot, as surfing and fishing are restricted to allow for family-friendly aquatic fun. Be sure to stick around for some of the concerts in the park that take place at the amphitheatre, as they have a full season of free shows that are sure to delight audiences.  Dogs are allowed.

Dubois Park, Jupiter   19075 Dubois Road, Jupiter 33477

Jupiter’s beautiful beachfront Dubois Park is a good place for the true nature lover to spend the day. Its abundance of sideways-walking hermit crabs will thrill any child, and the water in the lagoon is so shallow, once could bring a chair and sit in it. The beach area is small, but it is guarded during the winter and on weekends and holidays. The Dubois Pioneer Home and the Indian Mound historical/archaeological site are also located on this property. Free admission to park.  Dogs are allowed.  Restrooms and shower facilities are available on site.

Gulfstream Park, Gulfstream   4489 N Ocean Blvd, Delray Beach  33483

With free admission, free parking and plenty of room for picnics and other family adventures, Gulfstream Park is rarely crowded and easily accessible. With 600 feet of guarded beach with very shallow water, it’s a nice place to splash around and stay cool. One of the very unique features of this beach is that it allows pets, and is fondly nicknamed Dog Beach by area dog owners who visit it often. Both saltwater and freshwater fishing are available.

Juno Beach Park, Juno  14775 HWY A1A, Juno Beach  33408

The Juno Beach Park is where you’ll find all the beautiful people of Juno Beach strutting their stuff along the shore. Home to Juno’s 990-foot pier, this beach attracts many an angler hoping to hook into the proverbial “one that got away.” Enjoy a day at the beach with the family as Juno Beach Park has plenty of available parking, picnic areas, miles of white sand beach, and is the site for the Ocean Rescue Headquarters. Fishing and surfing is prohibited in the guarded swimming areas.  Restrooms and shower facilities are available.

Jupiter Beach Park, Jupiter    1375 Jupiter Beach Road, Jupiter 33477 **

Jupiter Beach Park, Jupiter  -  - Jupiter Inlet beach park has a guarded beach; fishing jetty; walking distance to Dubois Park; leashed dogs allowed in the park but not on the beach; picnic areas with grills; reserved group pavilion; restrooms and showers. Jupiter Beach Park is open sunrise to sunset, fishing in the inlet is available 24 hours.

Loggerhead Park, Juno Beach 14200 US Hwy 1, Juno Beach  33480

Loggerhead Park was named such because it is a haven for nesting Loggerhead sea turtles during the summer. The eggs are protected securely, but you may sign up for a guided walk during the period when they are hatching. The park has 900 feet of guarded beach, a tennis pavilion with four courts, lots of picnic areas, a playground and a great nature trail. The county’s Marinelife Center is also located on this property.

Ocean Inlet Park, Ocean Ridge 6990 N. Ocean Blvd., Ocean Ridge, FL 33435

This county-operated 600-foot beach on the Boynton Inlet features a jetty and marina as well as more than 1,000 feet of access to the Intracoastal Waterway. There is an ocean overlook and seating pavilion. Fishing and surfing not permitted in guarded swimming areas. Beach conditions information: 561-276-3990.
Lifeguards: On duty from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Rules: No dogs, glass containers, fires.
Park is open from sunrise to sunset, but inlet fishing is allowed 24 hours a day.

Ocean Reef Park, Riviera Beach** 3860 N Ocean Dr, West Palm Beach 33404 **

Parking at Ocean Reef Park is free.  The beaches are clean and guarded.  There are restroom facilities, showers, picnic areas, and a play area.  A beach surf wheelchair is also available

Peanut Island Park, Riviera Beach 6500 Peanut Island Road, Riviera Beach 33404

(sometimes referred to as the Palm Beach Inlet) Peanut Island draws hundreds of locals and visitors to anchor in the shallow waters surrounding the island. The boat dock, restrooms, and camping areas are all handicapped accessible. Boat slips are available for day use as well as for registered overnight campers. There are three picnic pavilions; one is reserved for use by registered campers, but the other two are open to the public. There’s a nice walking path for nature viewing, numerous Chiki huts and a community fire ring. The park is open sunrise to sunset with the exception of the campgrounds. Campers must be registered and pay all appropriate fees. (boat access only)

Phil Foster Memorial Park, Riviera Beach 900 E. Blue Heron Blvd., Riviera Beach  33404

Phil Foster Park is located smack in the intracoastal waterway just west of Singer Island and south of Peanut Island. There are four single-lane ramps to launch your boat and parking for 81 trailers. There are also day-use boat and PWC slips, a playground, and picnic areas with grills. Open sunrise to sunset; boats ramps are open 24 hours. This park was just renovated in 2007 and it really looks nice.

R. G. Kreusler Park, 2965 S. Ocean Blvd., Palm Beach 33480 **

Looking for a perfect beach with outdoor showers, convenient parking, clean restrooms for changing and the safety of a life-guarded beach? This is it. There is even a palm tree shaded park with benches too. If you like, the boardwalk starts here and it is an easy stroll down to the fishing pier.

South Inlet Park, Boca Raton 1298 S. Ocean Blvd., Boca Raton  33432  **

This scenic county-owned park on the Boca Raton inlet goes from the ocean to the Intracoastal, featuring a pier/jetty for fishing and sightseeing, and also offers a good place to sailboard, windsurf, jet ski, canoe or kayak.
Facilities: Restrooms, showers, volleyball areas, nature area and playground. A large picnic pavilion can be reserved by groups, and there are other picnic areas with grills. For pavilion rental, call 561-966-6611.

Lifeguards: On duty from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rules: No dogs, no glass containers, no fires.

A beach surf wheelchair is available at each of the following beach parks displaying (**) after it.

Please contact a lifeguard at each location to arrange for use.
