It’s hard to think of a dreary winter day when you are sipping on this cocktail. In Season for a short time, the sweet and juicy Honeybell orange juice and the tartness of lemon juice with vodka make for a happy drink. Add a sprig or two of rosemary to give a hint of a piney scent to create the wintery feel. But the oranges and lemon will make you think of a sunny spring day! Be sure to include a little lemon zest to the sugar before you dip the rim of the glass in it. Now taste that tartness before the sweet. If you can’t be in Palm Beach County to enjoy these beautiful days of sunshine…….make your own and pretend you are here!
Juice of 4 Honeybell oranges – they are the JUICIEST! (about 1/2 cup)
Juice of whole small lemon (1 oz)
1 oz triple sec
3 oz vodka
2 sprigs of rosemary
lemon zest
sugar
1. Moisten the rim of your glass with some fruit juice. (The juice helps the sugar to adhere better than water does.) Combine zest and sugar in a shallow bowl or plate. Turn the glass over onto plate and coat with sugar.
2. Pour juices, triple sec, and vodka into a shaker. Shake and then pour over ice. Garnish with rosemary sprig. (sunshine for 2!)
